Rehabilitation of Greenpoint Ave. Bridge

  • Client: New York City DOT
  • Location: Brooklyn & Queens, NY
  • Project Value: $4,690,000
  • Time Frame: 11 months

Description:

The project involved the removal of the deteriorated roadway and sidewalk deck in the bascule span of the bridge. Judlau replaced the decks with a grid deck filled with pre-cast concrete. Select stringers and diaphragms were also replaced.

A full work platform was installed beneath the bridge, and the bridge was maintained in a balanced position throughout the life of the job. Roadway traffic was maintained on this key artery connecting Brooklyn and Queens, while marine traffic was shut down for two six-week periods to facilitate the staged construction.
