Rehabilitation of the Culver Line Viaduct

Description:

The Culver Line viaduct, which opened in 1933, is located between the portals of Carroll Street Station and Fourth Avenue Station, in Brooklyn. The goal of this project is to repair and rehabilitate the viaduct’s existing concrete deck, which had deteriorated.

The Scope of Work includes:

  • New waterproofing to prevent further deterioration.
  • Replacing the protection concrete and deteriorated protective netting.
  • Constructing new transit facilities.
  • Replacing ballasted track with low vibration track, using LVT resilient concrete blocks.
  • New track and signal system will result in a quieter ride.
  • Installing CBTC ready signal switches.

Four Judlau Companies — Judlau Contracting (as the general contractor), TC Electric, J-Track and Welkin Mechanical — came together, offering the owner an integrated full-service approach. The bid highlighted our strength as a multi disciplinary company.
