South Ferry Project

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and MTA Capital Construction have initiated a new South Ferry Terminal for the 1 Subway Line, to be located underneath Lower Manhattan, adjacent to Battery Park and the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. The $400 million project will correct existing deficiencies which limit train capacity and reduce subway reliability for millions of customers each year. The new station will reduce customer travel times, provide additional station entrances with disability accessibility, and will offer a new free transfer between the 1 line and the R and W lines at Whitehall Street. Judlau will be furnishing and installing all materials and equipment for over 1,600 feet of new track leading to a new South Ferry Terminal Station. This includes all new power, signals, communications, tunnel lighting, rails and ties, and ventilation. This new track will be connected to the existing 7th Avenue Line at the northern portion of the structural “box” now being constructed underneath Battery Park. At the southern end of the structure, Judlau will outfit the new South Ferry Terminal with new station lighting, plumbing, floor and wall tiles, artwork, AC and exhaust systems, seven escalators, two elevators, token booths, and all materials needed for this new and sure to be exemplary subway station.
