The goal of this project was to rehabilitate the concrete viaduct deck as well as the removal of existing track, performing DC and signal work and installing cables within the viaduct limit to permit repair and rehabilitation of the existing concrete deck.
The scope of the project included replacing the entire lower level four lane main span bridge deck with new prefabricated steel grid deck and panels, replacement of the existing concrete framed north approach structure with a new steel framed concrete shell and deck structure.
The goal of the job is to install trunk water mains to provide connections from four different shafts of City Water Tunnel #3 to the City’s distribution network. The work is occuring in four high-profile and challenging areas around Manhattan. This is the largest contract ever let by New York City DDC.
The work will include new entrances and control areas with five elevators and two escalators at Third Avenue and 63rd street, various architectural finishes including stainless steel column covers, porcelain enamel and aluminum composite ceilings, granite floor tile and a porcelain ceramic wall tile system.
